would a ka24de be a direct bolt on engine into the 89-90 240sx chassis? would the wiring be difficult? any help on this would be great thanks in advance.

You'll need a few things to put a KA24DE into a 89 or 90 S13 chassis. For one, the A/C compressor is different, and the power steering lines are on different sides of the car (I believe they are on the passenger side on the 89 and 90 models, whereas they are on the driver side with the KA24DE engine). Other than that, you'll probably need the 91+ ECU, I don't think there's anyway to retrofit the KA24E ECU to work with the DE. A junkyard is a great place to find these parts, or a wrecked 91+ 240 (preferably with a decent front bumper to replace the pig face on the 89 and 90 models ;-)).
