Mine was doing the same thing. I tested the distributor cap, the coils, the plugs, all checked out fine. If all of those check out okay I would recommend doing a fuel injector clean. I used a gas mix injector cleaner product by Techron which can be found at any auto store. In my case if the cleaner doesn't work I'm just going to buy some new injectors.

Check timing, and have a compression test done.

If timing is good , and since all other things are good....chances are you could have a valve issue....Which will show up on a compression test.

I had my head cleaned and rebuilt, it skipped real bad at idle..it was basicaly running on three cylinders because of a bad exhaust valve on #4 cylinder..on the compression stroke all the fuel/air mix would get pushed out of the exhaust valve......XD

Adjusting the Idle Air control screw is not going to help erratic idle...its only going to change the level at which it consistantly idles....

I saw SCREW and assumed you meant the IACV.

The throttle cable has nuts on it..but not screws so i was confused
