When I did a rebuild for a friend on his S13, we pulled the motor out, rebuilt it, then upon reinstallation we did a few things regarding the emission system.

First and the most tedious thing that had to be done was to remove the butterfly plates in the intake. We removed everything. Rod and all. Then all the emission holes were blocked off. Lastly we simplified the vacuum line setup.

Cold start became a living hell. LOL! but after warm up seemed to run fine. No dyno sheets to tell you how much of a difference it made though. not much I'm sure.
