i have done a lot seaching and happen to have a dohc hanging around and was wondering if this mod is worth it.

my sohc that is in my s13 has 73,000 miles on it. and i need a little more power before i swap the sr in it winter.

i know the compression ratio is increased to 11:1 but i was wondering about hp and torqe gains. do u think i would break 200hp?

You need quite a bit of the dohc to do it. Timing cover oil pan chain head and maybe computer and a few other things. I would only do it if say you had a blown ka24de but a good ka24e block. Not really worth buying everything needed unless you get a hell of a deal. When you do this I hear it makes 11:1 compression which would require premuim gas or something like that. I thought about it myself, but going sohc turbo instead.

That seems very interesting. I would do that in a coupe or something.

If I'm not mistakin. You can't put a ka24de head on a sohc block the coolent jacket don't match up just look at the gaskets that should tell you especially the forth cyln.

the gaskets are the same..the 4th cylinder is the flow throu area..all other cylinders should only have super small holes..as the coolant is ment to flow from top to bottom and front to rear then back to front again...

the gaskets are not the same. look at the flow on cyln 4 compared to a ka24e. on an e engine there is no slots around the cyln and on the de there is it's not rocket science. look at the gaskets. I'm telling you the head won't match the block.

i have done a lot of searching. it has been done. so....search before making assumptions of what cant and can be done by the way the gaskets look.

Sorry, I was wrong. I just read the thread about the swap. There is a ton of other small s*** that you have to swap. Sounds bother some. But hey maa go for it. Let us know how it turns out!
