ok so the other day i bought a 1991 240sx with a blown head gasket for 700..now these last 2 days i have been slowly working my way to gettin the head off..i dont want to take it to a shop as i want to learn and be able to do it myself...ive seen and read through this thread (zerothread?id=245686) but i am still a lil confused as to what to do with the cam sprocket and chain..here is a link to the pictures i have been taking along the way..also would it be possible to take the head off with the intake manifold?...thanks for any info/help...

make sure that you have your engine set at TDC. your almost there you just need to turn the crank a little bit more. mark your distributor exactly were its at once the engine is at TDC. make sure to take pictures of everything once all this is done. on the cam timing there are marks on the sprokets. theres suppose to be 8 chain links between each mark. bag all your bolts so you know what goes where when putting her back together. Yes the intake mani can stay on the head. its easier that way anyhow. take your time with this and dont get into a rush otherwise you'll just f*ck it up. also don't buy any cheap ebay head gaskets! if your unsure on something look it up in the FSM or ask. don't asume anything. good luck!

well you can use a 1 1/16" socket to move the crank pulley clockwise until the markings is meet. reference the pic below. as far as the head bolts go use a T55 torx bit. when removing the cams mark them accordingly. also make sure that the cam caps go back exactly in the same spot as they are installed. the caps are mark 1-6 and they have markings that read (I) for intake and (E) for Exhaust. you need to replace the head bolts. the OEM bolts streach so they will be no good if you try to use them. Check your ECU codes, it'll tell you if you have a sensor unplugged or not.
