Well my head gasket in my 240sx blew less then 2 weeks after me having it... (180k miles)

Just ordered a head gasket kit off rock auto and plan on doing it next weekend to get it back on the road...

now while im in there, with an engine of this many miles, anything else I should consider replacing that may cause issues later?(Also plan on turboing it eventually) Maybe a timing chain? And anything the FSM wont tell me to do about re/disassembling that could cause issues?

I've also read some conflicting information about the head bolts, some say replace, others say dont waste the money on it. Normally I would just buy them and replace it, but the ones I found are like $100 so I'd rather get a straight yes or no first.(Also, any good sites to order them? RockAuto does not have them)

Replace all your gaskets, if you got the kit you might as well use them. As for the head bolts i wouldn't stress replacing them it is an option an a good one at that but as long as you don't need to replace them I wouldn't do it. Thats just my opinion and I'm sure other people will tell you the say and/or different.

dont listen to this...#1..if you have factory bolts..there a 1 time use only bolt as they stretch out and will eventually break on you if ya try to put em in after there stretch'd...

id go with engine studs..since you wana turbo anyways..you will need those...

as for the head gasket...KA's are notorious for blowin gaskets..but there is a solution...a machine shop for metal (O) rings around the cylinders and a reciever groove for the head...then get a full solid copper head gasket...there next to impossible to blow and can withstand large boost pressures and 7000 horsepower..you get the idea..while your there..go the extra distance..so you never have to worry about blowing a head gasket again..

hope this helps a littleP.S. full solid copper gaskets..are reusable...so its $80. bucks 1 time ..insted of everytime you remove the head.

If you're serious about keeping the car and building it later then buy aome ARP studs.
