I posted this in the NOM forum but no responses for a week so I figured I would try here:

So I'm replacing the head gasket and I get to the point where I need to install the upper timing chain and cam sprockets. However, the FSM says that the upper timing chain should have 3 mating marks, but I can only see 1 on mine. It's just a chain link that is a different color right? Any ideas or should I just buy a new upper timing chain?

Also, does anyone have a picture of the back of the engine / intake manifold fully put together. I'm trying to figure out the vacuum lines but the diagram and picture in the FSM don't make it very easy.

Alternatively, could I just remove all the vacuum lines for the SCV and EGR on a stock engine? I have already removed the secondary butterflies and the PAIR valve.

Well to tell you the truth you don't really need the marks! I mean as long as you follow the other instructions, getting the bottom end at TDC and have the cams pointing away from the inside of the engine, you should be set! Also since your taking the head off, remove all those vacuum lines. There not needed! There is a write up on that in the 240sx tech articles.

Here it is:
