KA24DE Head Gasket removal

Im in the middle of replacing my head gasket and I was pulling the lower timing cover off and it wont pry off the bottom part of it...it feels almost stuck...and i was wondering do I need to pull the oil pan off to pull the bottom timing cover off?

its on a 1992 nissan 240sx...KA24DE

yes you do need to remove the oil pan. serveral of the oil pan bolts are driven into the lower timing cover...hope that helps

you do need to pull the oilpan off to remove the lower timing cover..as there is a bracket that the (OIL PUMP) attaches to down there..if you try to force it...you may end up doing some expencive damage.....allso..to remove the headgasket as your title sugest's..you dont need to remove the lower cover at all..hope this helps..good luck
