It seems to me that the KA24DE does seem to die off in the power band after 5K. It seems there are dyno sheets to show that's true as well.

Has it been determined as to why the motor starts to loose power? Is the head choking? Intake manifold not designed right?

I am going to rebuils the entire head on my S14 and am looking for a way to upll some more power out. I'd like to be able to redline closer to 7K. Is that even possible on this motor?

KA doesn't have a full counterweight crank, so high rev applications aren't really what it's made for.

So it's losing power after 5K because of the crank?

If the crank is the issue what is the consensus on the rpm limitations?

You'll need better cams and valve springs/retainers.

If you're doing the head you should probably get it ported...the exhaust ports are skinny and at a funny angle.

Stock crank should be fine up to 7k

yes there is room godchaser..in my picks ..on my myspace..i ground the s***ze out of mine with a dremel and polished to a mirror intake and hotside ...the real hold back to this engine..(Has been said manytimes here on nicco) is the crappy intake and the super long stroke/crank issue...this motor is really turbo friendly thou and can handle allot of abuse..so if ya build up the head..build it for a future KA-T build in mind for down the road bro and you wont be disappointed.
