so tax time is coming up. my daily driver has 237,000 miles on it. i think it is time for a rebuild. i've done some research on some rebuild kits. and i've only found one.rpmmachine- $249.95is there any other kits out there. i have thought about going turbo so im thinking forged rods and pistons.any help would be much apperciated.

if your going boost and keepin it under 300hp for now..then you can go a cheeper route.

pistons: i like supertech myself..but any afordable brand is fine.rods: you can keep the oem rods..there good for 300hp or so.new bearings: clevite..fosho!headgasket: i prefer SCE gaskets..but choose your own for your power lvl.and last but not least...arp head , rod , and main studs to hold it togetherthats about it as far as bottom end goes..

what i would recomend thou..is at least duel springs for the top end..to help stop valve float under WOT drifts..and maybe some nice cams to let her breath a little better..

good luck on this build man..let us know the progress.

The cheaper turbo route is pretty cool, but you are limited to what the stock rods can handle. I have been reading alot of people's input on ka-t's, and some say they wished they had spent more money firsthand and went with aftermarket pistons, rods, and good (not just the cheapest) tuning software so that when they got the boost bug they had more to work with instead of being maxed out already. Of course, you could always be content with 300hp, I'm just saying...

Granted, there are reports of people running more than 450whp on stock internals, but their tunes must be impeccable with no detonation, and I don't hear alot about them lasting very long like that.

And then there is always the rest of the car to worry about...

It's a bit more pricey, but a rebuild kit from ams performance seems pretty good if your going turbo. Im getting one myself at least...

I got my rebuild kit from Underground Motorsports.

It came with:Supertech 9.0:1 Pistons w/ Rings (.020")Eagle Rods w/ ARP Rod BoltsClevite Main and Rod BearingsFel-Pro Full Engine Gasket SetMr. Gasket Copper Exhaust GasketARP Main/Head StudsTiming Component Kit

And you have the option to go with CP pistons for extra $$$

It comes out to $1610

It all depends on your power goals and how much your willing to spend.Forged internals are the way to go.

Here's the link if you want to check it out

i already got a head gasket set because like the beginning of november i blew it. stupid raditor clamp came loose when i was out in the middle of no where. so ive been driving my drift whore because its been to cold to work on it!! no garage and its 20 degrees outside f*** that lol. i think im gonna go with the ams rebuild kit. i'll do a little bit more research before i decided.im really only looking to push like 250-275 hp. to the wheels. it is my daily driver so i dont need to much. before the blown head it would smash on gt mustangs until i hit 115 lol. its already jwt intake and exhaust cams. the guy who had it before me tuned it really well. i will keep you guys updated on the rebuild at the beginning of the year. with lots of pictures and details. any idea on how to remove the fuel shut off from with out loosing the speedo? i know it plugs into the transmission. i just dont know how to get around it
