just bought this car and just yesterday noticed a fluctuating idle in neutral, any common causes for this? and when i rev it and the rpms drop they drop really low into like 200 and kinda bogs out then picks back up!is this normal for this engine? stock everything currently 230kmiles

also cooling fan off belt is loose i can wriggle it. and i think the clutch is cracked so im getting that checked out today!

1mansho has a point but I would start with a good general tune-up. Check / Replace plugs, wires, air cleaner, fuel filter, oil change, etc. After that I would move on to clean MAF and IACV. Also put some fuel injecter cleaner in the tank.

That will also let you know when regular maintance is next due.

I was under the impression that injector cleaners weren't a good idea for 240s.

mine did the same thing and i did the whole tune up thing and it still did it. I however just replaced the head and found a major vacume hose that was burnt off. I havent quite finished the head installation but I hope thats all that was making the RMPS drop and rough idle I hope smooths out.

I'm having same weird idle problem.Everytime I released the gas pedal, the idle drops to about 400 and kicks up to 1500 rpm and then slowly it goes down to normal idle. In neutral and vehicle stopped, the idle is fine, but it only happens after I drive (release gas pedal). Can anyone help??

+1 for general tune up as has been said before. It helped but what finally worked for mine was turning the idle up a little bit. I don't know why but turning mine up to about 800 was the only way i could get it to completely smooth out. You might want to check the timing too.

I did all the tune up today. And I checked EGR valve hoses for crack or any damage and everyting is clean.

Whenever I release the gas pedal, the rpm still drops to 300 rpm and kicks back to 1500 rpm and slowly goes back to normal idle.

Can anyone help? what could cause this?

I have the same problem with my ka24e and it also runs rich. i took it to my mechanic and he told me that it was something with the coolant temp sensor is corroded or something and its running rich cause of my fuel injectors are loose internally i think. Then he said that ill have to take it to the nissan place to get it fixed (f that cause they cost to much). Does anyone know how i could fix it with out have to spend my entire paycheck?
