KA24de, out of a 95 240sx with 131ki bought this motor from someone who didnt know what happened to the motor. i pulled the oil pan off, after realizing it wouldnt turn over, and found a rod bolt came off. just one, the other held the rod onto the crank.now my theroy is, because there was literally huge peices of plastic in the pan and oil pickup. clogging the pickup, caused loss of oil pressure? therefore snapping the rod nut right off the bolt.

now does that sound logical?im thinking the big plastic chunks are from the timing guides or something, i really dont know. i will once i get the intake manifold off, to lift the head.

from the info i've told you does it sound like a bearing, ring, and timing chain could do the trick to get my car on the road? of course new rod bolts.?

thanks for any help

check the crank for scoring and the bearings for the same . if they all look good then the bolt may of just had a stress fracture that eventully caused it to fail.

years of heating and cooling cycles on a part that may of alredy been flawed would kill it eventully.

just a thought
