I know. I searched and did not find anything, maybe I wasnt typing in the right stuff or whatever, but I found nothing.

Stock S14 "DE". I am building an exhaust from scratch for the car, which is a Datsun, so I cant use any bolt-on exhaust. I am building it from the exhaust manfiold back. No cats, just a resonator and a muffler.Someone told me that for the normally aspirated KA, the bigger the better. This true? So, since I had a bunch of 3" stainless sitting around, thought I would use that. In the future I may turbo or go high compression n/a, and I dont want to remake the complete exhaust.should I just run with the 3"?

Yes, many people use 3" piping on their ka24de with no power loss, only gains. I regret buying the 65mm hks instead of the 80mm cause I need to get a new one if I'm gonna go turbo, plus all the sr down pipes I've seen are 3".(why sr=cause sr dp works with ka-t)

Well, if you don't have any plans to go turbo and are going to stay NA go with a 2.5" because if you go with the 3" you'll lose on the top end and some low end torque. But if you're going turbo, either will work fine for mild setups but the 3" will be substantially louder. If the builds going to get over 250 HP, you should definately go 3".

Good luck.

Use the 3", yes you will lose some top end power but ka's don't make power up there. Kinda like they fall on there face(long stroke design). Loud is an understatement with 3" no cat on a KA, at 5 ft. my car measured 153.7 db's at wide open throttle. Hope that kinda gives you a perspective GL

i got 3 inch straight pipe with a skunk 2 tip and it is loud!!. i got a little 12 inch resonater put on but it didnt do much. but yah i was suggest 3 inch its not something you want to be daily driving or trying to drift in town.. people can still hear me sliding around town.. not good. but i lost a little low end but in the top end it screams.. no governor.
