ka24de engine noise. lifters???

engines making a weird noise. upper chain guides are removed, new chain and tensioner.

maybe its the lifters? its got new bc v2 cams in it.

a few shim clearances are barely out of spec. only one clearance was slightly too large. would not quite enough clearance cause this?

any ideas are appreciated

I would re-shim it properly first. It could be a lifers by the whine, but it also sounds like knock.

Get a wooden down and place it on the motor and listen from the other end... old trick

No its not a knock, A knock is pretty loud. This seems to be coming from the top of the engine. Did you lube the cams properly? If i were you i would stop by a local auto parts store and pick up some STP oil treatment with some castrol 30 wieght oil. Mix it in a contianer and pour it into your engine. this helped my 240sx lifter problem. Cause my cams were changed also. You should give it a try only cost you about 7 bucks

Rods don't knock overnight. As the clearances grow the knock gets louder. However I think its also the top end, but it sounds like knock at a certain point in the video. You know the shimming is off, reshim, soak in oil, and retry

Yea thats also true. But if its the lifters stp helps for sure. On top of that you can never know from a video. You have to be there.
