I have a block off plate but i still have not gotten the car registered. salvage title= bs lol probably would have it done already but it keeps breaking on meTDS wrote:Do you absolutely need to have the EGR installed? Why not go without it unless your state has strict emissions.
Is there a thre4ad somewhere about removing the EGR? I was going to do it when i swapped engines, but I didn't want to mess with the variable intake stuff that is in the same area.TDS wrote:Do you absolutely need to have the EGR installed? Thanks for the link. I'm not going to do a turbo conversion so as I understand, the butterflies would be best left in. At lower rpms the will induce more torque. For a turbo swap it makes prefect sense since the boost at lower rpms will add torque, and not having the intake restricted with butterflies will help the top end.psi240 wrote:zerothread/157751
variable intake stuff ? are u talking about the butterflies? if ur going to be taking off the IM anyways then take them out .. its really easy.
the way that i do it is i spray it with penetrating oil maybe use some heat like a propane torch. loosen the header/manifold and then use your wrench or vise grips or what ever you use, and when you install it put anti-seize on the threads. should work pretty goodfuco8210 wrote:I unfortunately have to rip the head again and replace the hg that lasted 3000miles. Last time i remember getting the egr plate free(and reinstalling) from the intake manifold was a huge pita. and the fitting on the exhaust manifold wasnt going to come off.. This is a main reason why i have been putting this job off, but its time to try again and get the 240 back on the road. I am looking for hints on the best way to get the egr off and back on when i rip/reinstall the head.. thanks
