I've got a ka-t with a JWT tuned ecu. The car also had a 5spd swap done. Using an s13 5spd. When I bought the car, the CEL was not on. Now it is. I pulled the codes and got p0325 which is knock sensor. The car runs perfectly. Pulls hard, no weird idle, revs perfect, my mpg is good as usual. The other codes are all for the AT. Why would these come up now? I've read that the knock sensor will not throw a CEL by itself. And if it was bad, it will pull timing which would be noticeable. What gives?

A knock sensor will not throw a light. It will store a code if there is a problem with the sensor or the sensor wiring. With 5spd swaps, usually it will throw gear position switch codes if they are not wired in.

Hmmm. Well if I'm not noticing any change in the performance of the car, what do you think I should do?

I would try and find out what code is causing the light to come on. If you don't care, then it should be fine. Those gear position switches don't really affect performance at all, but i heard it may lower your redline or speed limiter or something like that in 4th and 5th gear. I haven't disconnected mine to see what happens so I'm not sure if that's entirely true.

Thanks for the info. Here's another weird thing, the scan tool picked up the knock code. When I check for codes just using the flashing LED in the ECU, I'm not getting that code. Weird???

When checking the ECU's led I'm only getting the DTC's for the A/T. Codes 123,124,125. That's it. No code 34.

I think the car is ok. But I would still love to know why the code P0325 showed up on the scanner but DTC 34 did not show up when I checked the ECU... weird right??

If it bothers you, i would check it out and try to fix it even though it won't do anything for the CEL.It can potentially cause the engine to not run as much timing advance which will rob you of some power.
