Can anyone enlighten me on the difference between the internal and external coil distributors. Can I swap an external coil dist into a later (95) internal coil KA24de.

I want to add a MSD digital 7 programmable.

thx

One has a coil built into the distributor, the other one doesn't.

You should be able to swap it.

Edit: BTW, this should be in one of the 240sx forums, not gen. chat.

I'm aware of that much. I know in nissans old Naps z 22 engine the "e" and "s" models had an ever so slightly different lenght dist shaft. They both fit but if you put the short into the long model (forget which is which) you can't adjust the timing while the engine is running. It is that close that the few thousanths of loosening the clamp will make the dist slip. I don't want to deal with something like that on this one.

So its a valid question. Also will the computer operate the older dist?

I posted it in tech but no replies.
