Guys there are so many of these threads, search Cam, or Cam timing.
Get a rod, about a foot long thats thin enough to drop down into the combustion chamber. Make sure this rod isnt going to leave anything down there.. Take out your number one spark plug, and take off your valve cover. Get a 27mm socket/wrench to turn your crank over with the dowl, or rod resting on the top of your number one piston.
Next, watch your cams while you slowly turn your crank through all 4 cycles of your engine. At the bottom of the combustion stroke, right before the piston starts to come back up, the exhaust lobe should be opening that valve. At the end of the exhaust stroke, when the piston is all the way at the top, your intake cam lobe should open the intake valve.
