My 240sx makes a clicking noise between 2000-4000 rpms, it's very obnoxious...it's like the sound your head would make if it had no oil. But I have oil lol. It's a fully rebuilt motor, so it's not rod knock. I attached a video so you can see what I mean. Turn it up so you can hear it...it is much louder in real life.

Please help, anyone. Also, the timing chain guides are removed..so that's not it.

The noise begins at 10 seconds.

Sounds like a rod knock to me.Pull one plug wire at a time and see if affects the noise.

Yea it does sound kinda knockish but I couldn't say for sure.. Your gonna have to trouble shoot this one. Try doing what the guy above me said and remove one plug at a time to see if it has any effect. Then try each injector. If your car is idling rough then one of your pistons might not be firing.
One of the crank bearings could be out. When that happens it sounds kinda like a knock. If thats the case then replace that bearing sir.

Well whatever it is is occuring in cylinder #3. While #3 is unplugged the sound is gone.

Maybe it's cause the oil I'm running. Synthetic only, right?

Sorry to say, but your problem is deeper than that. :frown:

Sounds kind of like something my car did. Do you still have an upper timing chain guide under your valve cover? If you do, take your valve cover off and inspect that. Mine had broke and was sat on the chain making that noise more unbearable. but it started off the same way.
