Wondering if anyone knows the answer to this.

I have a chance at getting a sr20det with a whole in the block and everything on it ecu wires etc. Its stock redtop nothing too special but its got lots of good parts and I'm getting it in exchange for swapping it in.

So this got me thinking. I got a Ka24de infact I got more than one KA I've been thinking about building one of them.

Is it possible to use the CAS from the SR as far as I know the SR20de uses the same Distributor as the KA24de furthermore I sold a SR20de car to my friend and when we did tune up we used the distributor cap from a KA and they even had the same firing order.

I don't fully understand ECU I suppose but it seems like all it does is regulate how much fuel to squirt in so why can't you just use the ECU from a sr20det on a KA24de they seem to be a way too similar same firing order and people use the ka24de wiring on a sr20de

I mean even the intakes are shaped the same way and have lots of the same senors a similar compression ratio.

Kinda the way I think if you use all the SR sensors isn't it computer wise just like a stroked SR the computer can't tell??? Am I defining ECU as oversimplified or is it really something simple like I'm thinking. I mean its just a carb replacement in some sense.

I might try it or I might sell the whole redtop to my friend that bought the SR20de from me. but I think a little info might help me decide what I will do.
