I posted this in 240 gen, but I never seem to get answers there, so I'm putting it here too...

I have heard that the cams in 1991 KA's are more aggressive than any of the other year motors...is this true?

Well, I know 91-94 cams (240/248) are more aggressive than 95+ cams (232/232)...but would 91 cams be better than say, 93 cams?

No, not all s13's w/ the DOHC have the same aggressive cams. All '91's did, all '92's did, and some early year '93's, and no '94's.

I've ehard this too, but then, why are all KA's S13 and S14 rated at the same horsepower? Not attacking, just wondering

Computer changes...

S14 has a more aggressive ECU, S13 has better cams. (At least that's the theory I've heard, and the only one that makes sense...)

And it's not marketing hype or BS...they both typically dyno in the 125-130rwhp range stock.

Well.. to add to the hearsay...

I heard that the ka's with the secondary butterflies had the 240/248 cams.

That would be 91-93.5 I believe.

^^^ No hearsay there.

That's the best way to determine if an S13 had the "good" cams...

Yes, search a little and you'll find a lot of info on the benefits of the S13 cams versus the S14 cams.
