JWT definitely has DOHC cams, mine are on order at this moment, as well as a computer reprogramming.

Stillen does not make KA cams, they sell the Jim Wolf versions that are supposed to be nice, but I don't have much info on them. Gude cams are not the best choice for a cam, they are heavily regrinded and will need a full set of shims, setting you back a lot. Colt are better, and have minimal midrange loss. The Nissan Motorsport cams, or even the earlier 91-93 cams, are the best option for money and installation, as some of the shims are resuable and they're not ground in any way. Find an old salvage motor or head and get the cams, usually you'll be out no more than $100. I bought a head for $150, took the cams, then sold the head for $125. I saw a 4hp increase on my motor, with my OE exhaust back in place, so a good estimate would be 8-10 overall. Not bad for $25.

I run nissmo cams 248 on the intake and even taller on the exaust . On the dyno we saw 9hp to the wheels. I don't use a Kat. power comes on real strong from 2500 to 6000. sometimesi can chirp 3rd.

I called JWT and talked to Ben he says that the specs on the dohc cams are as follows they have a lift of 390 and a duration of 275 deg, he also told me that on a stock naturally asperated car it produced 10 hp im assuming thats at the wheels...

What is the downside of cams? I have 118k on my motor, will the cams hurt it too much? Does it idle really bad? Does it hurt gas mileage a lot?

Thanks,

David.

When Nissan built the KA motor for some reson they used week *** cams. I dont know why. The KA motor is a big block 4 cylinder that needs large cams to make's nice power. I guess you could say it's under "cammed". Nissan admitted this by making a stock larger cam. 248 degree. Stock is a week 232 degree. That is a very low cam profile if you asked me. Even a turbo motor would be better with 248 degree cams....
