S13 cams in an S14 will push the whole HP and TQ curves over to the right ~500rpms...and since HP is just a mathematical representation of TQ+RPM...if you move the TQ band into higher RPMs, you get more HP.
HP = [ (TQ+RPM) / 5250 ]
So even if you can make the same TQ at 500 higher RPM...you get more HP:
A stock S14 makes peak HP (125rwhp) at ~5700rpm. TQ at that point is only ~115rwtq.
Move that up to ~6200rpm...and at the same 115ft/lbs of TQ, you have 135rwhp.
Same EXACT power curve, just moved up in the revs a little.
...
In reality, you gain about ~8rwhp form S13 cams in an S14.
Now, look at the JWT cams, and it makes peak HP at ~6700...so the increase should be similar...but in reality, it's probably ~15rwhp more than the stock S14 cams, but there is a tradeoff for low-end. Not much, but it's present.
Hope that helps.
