Ok I have searched but found nothing. I have a 95 ka and installed the 240 cam in it. I never changed the exhaust side so its still the 232. I removed the cam from the intake side and never removed the chain from the exhaust side or the idler sprocket. Its and intake cam so from what i read you do not need to move it over some teeth is that true? Well what I did was count 8 links and reinstalled the exhaust sprocket. I looked it up in the pic since I cannot find the marks on the chain. I rotated the motor and now all my intake cams stay down. I think I bent all the valves on that side. How is that possible? Could anyone let me know how to find out if my cams are off?

well if you bent your valves its time to take your head off make sure to look over the pistonsto make sure there is no marks or scratches then find new valves replace the seals and then put the head back together after that take off the timing case cover and re do the timing as shown in the manual or pic after that make ure you rotate the crank fully 4-6 times to make sure all the marks line up afterwards if they do then replace the cover case and everything else after that try and fire it up if it sounds like its bogging at idel just means the new cam needs to adjest if the marks dont line up you might need to buy eh "dial a cam " which you can dial to line them up better hope it works out and it will probably kick a** after it dose

Ok I am taking off the head this week. When I put it back together how do I do the timing on it? I really want to rebuild the motor but I need my 5 speed swap before I do that. I live in a apartment so I cant pull the motor. I will only do that if i have access to my uncles shop and I can pull the motor and rebuild and balance it. Last what is really bothering me is not that I will have to fix my motor but what did I do wrong to bend my valves?

To check your cam timing, remove all the spark plugs and remove the valve cover. Have someone tap the starter while you have your thumb over the #1 spark plug hole. Once you feel compression, insure that the block timing pointer at the front pulley is pointing to the zero mark on the pulley. Remove distributor cap and insure that the rotor is pointing to #1 firing position. The #1 piston is now sitting at TDC compression stroke. Remove the upper and lower timing covers. Now look at the lower timing chain for the chain mating (silver) mark which should be at the crankshaft sprocket gear mark. The top end of the timing chain mating (silver) mark should be at the large idler sprocket gear mark. The upper timing chain mating (gold) mark should be at the small idler sprocket gear mark. The other two chain mating marks should at their cam gear marks. Here's a picture:

Yah thats the diagram I used. If you count the chain there is exactly 8 links from one cam timing point to the next. I would understand that i was off if i bent both intake and exhaust valves but i only bent the intake ones, also the chain never came off the idler or the exhaust cam. How did I go wrong? I looked at my timing many times and I still don't see what went wrong. Do the s14 have taller pistons than the s13? Now I am going to take my head off the motor when I put it back how do i time everything? How do I time the crank and the idler sprocket together? How do i time the idler sprocket and the cam together? Where are the timing marks and where are they supposed to be pointing to?
