also, mine is manual and when i take it out of gear and brake heavily (like 70mph and 120ft from a stop sign) sometimes my rpms drop so low the car stalls and other times it doesn't. its happened to me about three times in the last two weeks. i idle around 700-900 depending on the day(temp, humidity, etc.) anyone know what could be causing this?

700-900 is a normal rpm range for idle..as for the bucket shims...take off the valve cover and meshure them with a your srtip style gauge (fila gauge)..they should be close to your factory service manuals recomendations..if there not..replace them.

This is for issue you described with braking hard from 70 while out of gear. The power brake booster relies on the intake for its vacuum supply, and when you slam the brakes while the engine is just idling away, of course its gonna mess with the idle and sputter a little bit. You said it stalls though, so IDK, just leave it in gear when you decelerate I guess.
