hey all

ok if i could get some help about this problem it would be great

when i got my 240 it had a cam swap, so i located some stock cams and put them in

i timed it, and it started right up and runs hard

the problem is that it will idle fine until you rev. it

once you rev it, it rev's good but then when it starts to rev. down it goes past the idle point and cuts out

could it be that the timing is off one chain link on either cam?

there is a small possibility that i bent cylinder 2 and 3 valves while trying to swap the cams because it was a learning curve for me

so is there a chance that if the valves are bent and that would cause it to be cutting out?

please let me know if any of you have gone threw that or know the answer to this problem

thank you!

Is your IACV valve hooked back up properly? That's the first thing that comes to my mind.

the bent valves would definately be noticable at idle casuing ll kinds of problems. try the iacv unit clean or replace it with a new/used one the s14 ones are the same unit but u must get the connectors with it if u decide to sue a unit from a s14 or 13 whichever is the one you dont own.

ok thanks to you both for the input, i will check the IACV and see if thats it

what would the problems be if i did bend my valves, because it runs good while idling but only on the rev does it die back down

but more likely the IACV because it seems to choke too

thanks again

well one of the modules on the iac unit is called i think the ficd which is just a solenoid that opens/closes the idle air port intot he intake and keeping ur idle up for about a second or 2 after you let off. i was having this same problem. definately replace that whole thing. also bent valves cause lots of problems loss of compression in the cylinder. sputtering, popping, varying idle, smoking, etc etc.

The FCID valve is only for your AC. When you turn your AC on, the ECM activates the FCID valve and lets more air past the throttle plate.

i have a spare one i will take it off and put it on, hopefully its in good condition

also im sure a fuel filter change couldnt hurt

thanks for the info

im going to search for it anyway but does anybody know if there is a write-up on this?
