ka24de burns oil.. valve seals?

just started building my second ka24de powered 240. so all it has is an N60 maf, filter kit, ksport springs, and complete 3" bolt on exhaust. soo it smokes and does indeed eat oil. I checked the compression and it has 175 psi all the way from 1-4. im certain the only other problem could be the valve stem seals, but before I pull the head off and rebuild it I wanna know if anyone else could imagine that it might be anything else. it runs great and only smokes when I rod the piss out of it and pull away from stop signs. -thanks
