my ka24de idles perfect. it can rev freely and sounds ok (except the rattle at 3k which im guessing is the infamous timing chain rattle?) my power just shuts off when i step on it. at first my engine would bog out at higher rpms when i would floor it. now it pretty much cuts out whenever i step on the pedal. the only way i can get to freeway speed is by easing the throttle to 65 which takes maybe 15 seconds. i have tried all the basic maintanence (cap and rotor, spark plugs wires, etc). nothing has worked at all. i recently bolted up a 3in exhaust with a test pipe to try and see if the problem was with the cat. if anything it has made the problem worse. im just starting out with working on cars so my understanding is limited, but it seems like if it was a fuel problem it would make sense it gets worse when my airflow increases. this is making me think it could be the fuel pump or injectors? im gonna get some sr injectors from a friend today. hopefully i can get my fried to let me try his fuel pump also. any advice, tips or anyone with similar problems i would appreciate the help.

check your tps voltage i am not sure about the ka but i think it should be about .45 - .55v at idle and 4.5v at w.o.t. it may be malfuctioning and not giving out enough voltage to keep the engine running at w.o.t. also a way to check your injectors is to pull the spark plug wires out and crank the engine over with the fuel rail off and injectors still in..this way you can see if one of your injectors or even more than one arent spraying as long as the others. also it never hurts to check your ecu for codes..thats the easiest way

the way i understood ecu codes worked was that if there was a code the ecu would give you your check engine light would be on. does the ecu give you error codes and not put the engine light on? mine is off. thank you for the advice, i will check the injectors like that. it seems like the sr injectors are more desirable anyways (im getting them for free). i dont know how to check the tps voltage...im gonna search on that right now, but if you feel like posting, id appreciate it.
