Can anyone tell me if this engine was used prior to 1991? I need to convert my 91' to carburators and was wondering if it was used in earlier modles as a carburated engine rather than as only FI?

Building a kit car and need to keep it really simple (NO ECU)

Update: I t is NOT a ka24de motor, but a ka24e (SOHC).Sorry for the mis-information, but other than the wife's Maxima, I am totally lost in Nissan country. Same questions apply.

The KA24DE debutted in 1998 in the Frontier. Before that, HB's had the single cam KA24E.

The dual cam engine was in 240's throughout most of the 90's though, but I coudln't tell you what year it started, though I highly doubt there was a carbed version. I don't think the engine has been around that long.

The twin cam KA24DE was first put into 240's in 1991. It was never carbed.

I know I am not answering the initial question, just adding info to complement rat's post.

All KA's were fuel injected. The motor was first produced in 1988.
