ka24de and ka24e bottom end differences?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

hi, im sorry if this has been posted before but the search feature is not working correctly for me

my ka24de bottom end took a crap and i wanted to replace it, so i was wondering if i can pick up any ka24 bottom end or does it have to be from a ka24de?

if they do fit, would u recommend it?

I know that you can, but it wouldn't be as good as the DE.

The block is exactly the same. You'll have to use the front timing cover from the DE, though.

well, since the KA24E is SOHC, you obviously need the different timing cover.

they are not exactly the same, brackets are not the same for powersteering & other accesories, the pistons are not the same i believe, it also doesn't have oil squirters like the DE block does, even some of the in-block oil galeries aren't the same.

now the height of the rods should be the same along with maybe the crank.

The pistons aren't the same, but they will fit. Also, the E pistons are actually better considering they're not dished and will give you a higher CR.

All the other differences won't matter for matching it up either as they are totally internal to the block.

The only potential problem is of course the accessories, but considering I think all the accessories are the same parts (could be wrong), you shouldn't have any problem attaching them to the E block, you'll just need different belts.

so i see i should opt for a de block then

on top of that, im looking for a lower cr so de is my only option.
