pretty easy..first of all this car has 110ksh miles on it...it was a 96 kaDE put on a 92 hatch..

the problem is a whinning sound near the crank pulley..whenver u rev the engine pass idle u can distinguise the sound...sounds like a supercharger sound..high pitch..gets louder as a acel..i was thinking of posting a video up but gonna have to wait on a camera..

first, i though it was my water pump going bad..(a bearing or so) i found out it had lil play so i changed it.and it wasnt it the sound. the sound is still there...then one day i was left on the side of the road...my battery died...alt blown fuse..because my hanging reverse wires touch together (was lazy to fix it)..so that same day i thought it was the belt that runs with the alt...i tighten up a lil cuz it felt loose and the sound change..can a worn out belt be the sound? the alt was replace maby 2 months ago but that belt id had for 25k miles maby?

Yes a bad/worn belt can make that kind of sound.

Looks like you were on the right track by checking the water pump. Also the altinator can make a simaler sound but it will usualy change pitch with RPM. Idler pullies and power stearing pumps can also make strange sounds.

If you ran the belt a little loose and it glazed over then the chance of hearing noise from it goes up.
