I need info on putting a KA24de into a 620. Will Altima KA work in a north south vehicle? I have heard that the truck KA block is stronger, is it worth it to swap a de head + intake onto the truck e block? What do I need to modify to bolt the KA into a 620? I don't want high compression as I want to turbo it eventually. I know this engine has a lot of potential for my needs. I'm looking for 300 to 350 dependable hp so my truck is as fast as it looks.

Thanks for any help

I can't believe that no one is willing to answer any of my questions! What is the problem, do I have the plauge or something?

Go to the Nissan 720 truck website http://groups.msn.com/nissandatsun720pickupowners and all of your questions are answered in the engine swapping section.

I myself swapped a SOHC KA24E into my 720 truck (which basically would be similar to what you will face in the 620 truck), and I am now upgrading to the DOHC KA24DE untill I can get an Eaton supercharger mounted on the SOHC KA24E engine via the use of the 240SX SOHC lower intake manifold & adapter plate.

By the way, the truck version block of both the SOHC & DOHC KA's is the only one that will fit in the Nissan trucks, so don't mess with the 240SX or Altima versions. You can swap the 240SX intake onto the truck engine though, for added power output.

You will need a rwd block, look into using either a sohc or dohc truck block, or a 240sx version. Z series blocks (such as z24) can also be used, if you want to run single cam these would be the way to go (kae/z hybrid).

You will need an fs5 C-type nissan transmission from a Z/KA powered truck or one from a 240sx.

Depending on your block/transmission combo you will need to do some starter mounting modifications. Stick to a z24 or ka truck block if you can, you can use your existing starter (or any other l/z), and have the larger flywheel option. You can use any nissan-datsun 6 bolt l/z flywheel on the z24 or ka, including the one from your (presumably) l20.

The fs5 transmission is required because the blocks sit vertically, C-type would be the best option. I would suggest an 86-97 d21 2wd transmission, available in both 4 and 5 speed. The 5 speed is similar to the fs5 in the 240sx with the exception of 5th gear, and the 4 spd is available in the earlier 86-89 trucks, a decent 4 spd.

soryy for the thread jack but devious would a 2wd truck transmission fit under a 240 and is it stronger than the 240 transmission would someone with say 350hp have to watch out with the output shaft on that transmission as well as the 240

thanks in advance john
