KA24DE 5SPD transmission Probs 1996 240sx

I have a 96 240 with approx 80k miles on it and the engine/transmission. When I shift into 1st, 3rd and 5th gear the shifter is ALWAYS predictable, ALWAYS moves into the same position that it did before. 2nd, 4th and reverse are a different story. Sometimes the shifter moves all the way down into gear and sometimes it moves only half the distance down into the gear and doesnt give me the confident feeling that its in gear like it should. I always have to test the pedals and slowly let up on the clutch to make sure its actually in gear. Anyone have any idea what might be going on?

Its gotta be sometihng that only effects the shifter when its "down" (Where 1st is up, 2nd is down, 3rd is up, 4th is down)...

Sorry I cant help more, but i wonder if its a trans related issue
