Originally yes, then they were milled down from 11.6:1 compression to make it more feasable as a daily driver.

you know, if I had the cash I'd be all over it but I need to concentrate on getting the car completely paid for and in my posession first....it you still have them in a few months (hopefully not for your sake) I'll be all over it, I promise ;)

You should gain about 12% HP and torque across the powerband with these pistons.

COMPRESSION ALONE DOES NOT CONTRIBUTE AS MUCH AS MOST PEOPLE THINK-my research sayseach point of comp. increase=3-4% power increase-stock ka-24de-9.5to1-up to11.6to1=12.6hp increase(assuming stock 150hp)and you would have to retard the timing so much to run even the best pump gas you would probably lose twice that much!

why most new cars have relatively high comp. is efficiency which increases in greater proportion than power(7-8%per point)

modern engine controls are the only reason anything more than 9to1 is possible.

research from david vizard's many books-------------------------------------------------------------------------------thats way optomisticthis is a post I did before concerning compression (stock KA-24 piston swapping};)

Dont preach on my sale post. Ive read many times that 10% per point of increase is a good estimate. With headers and catback you wouldnt have to retard the timing at all to run 10.5:1. Dont argue either because I had them in and tried it.

sorry-didnt mean to preach-10.5 is probably fine with premium fuel-just that 10% is way high-that 3-4% per point estimate comes from many different sources and thousands of dyno test done by guys that have been there and done that before you or I were born

I dont mean any offense its just that numbers and expectations tend to get a little carried away-just trying to keep it realistic

if some one has dynoed their car before and after the piston swap with no other changes and on the same dyno please speak up-that would be interesting

I doubt anyone has. Very few people bother to really NA build a KA24DE. Most people just throw exhaust/headers/intake on and call it quits.

yea -dyno time would probably cost almost as much as the partsthere are some on here that have the whole deal-but usualy other changes are made at the same time so its hard to compare

Im rebuilding one for my sweeties car now(91 240sx coupe)are these pistons standard bore?

Yep standard bore. Basically drop in other than fresh rings and hone. They clear higher lift cams too as long as you dont adjust more than half a tooth.

Rownan over on FA (maybe he's on here...??? - He has the car that was Rich Bs from 240SX.org IIRC) has I/H/E, S13 cams, ECU, pulley, etc...and 11:1 pistons and made ~170rwhp.

I made 160rwhp with basically the same mods...

So add his pistons to my old N/A setup and you get a gain of 6.25%...still higher than what I've read/seen (which is 4% BTW...), but not a 15-20rwhp gain.

Later - Brian

Rownan used to post here. When I was first looking into going high compression he was one of the people that responded to my questions.

Id be willing to buy these pistons if you give me more details about them, brand milage put on them, an if i got these will I need to do any other mods to run the 10.5:1 compression without screwin up the rest of my motor?

They have about 15 miles on them. They are Nissan pistons. You will need new piston rings, and a fresh bore hone, You should have headers and exhaust at least to run these, although you can run them on a completely stock motor if you retard the timing.

Will these work on the DOHC motor as well because thats what Im planning on puttin them in, an if so I will buy them from you. But just one questioned if their 10.5:1 compression only 15miles on them why are you selling them for 75 shipped.

Yes they will only work in the DOHC motor. Im selling them for $75 because theres not a huge demand for them. I was asking $100 but noone took it. I hate to have them sitting around when someone could be using them, and I have need of the cash right now. If you truly are interested in them toss me an email and we will get it figured out. Hope to hear from you soon. [email protected]
