Guys and girls, I have a question and i wanted to know if the transmission form a 1990 240sx would work with a ka24de from 91 up or not. The transmission I have now is pretty good, but I wanted to know if it would work so i could cut the cost of buying a whole swap. Also, I need an estimate of prices if I wanted to run about 350-400 horses at the wheels, what needs to be done, and price ranges to accomplish this.:help

That being said yes the KA24E and the KA24DE use the same transmission.

There seems to be two basic horsepower limits. The first is with everything stock. Stock pistons rods vavlvetrain etc. Most of the threads discussing it seem to come to the general agreement that between 300 to 350 RWHP is the stock limitations.

Now if you have the time or money to build up the block you can do far better than that. There are several people running after market pistions that are making a lot more. One of the KA-T guys on the board seems to be shooting for 500 so well see soon. I think he will get there.

IMO though the stock components look strong enough for most street applications. For example the ringlands on the pistions are MUCH thicker than the ones on my honda prelude. They are about the same thickness as the lands on my 3S-GTE engine and that one is factory turbocharged.

I think one of the biggest restrictions to power is probably the head. The ports have lots of casting flash and uneven serfaces in them.

Actually, I'm trying to beat Enjuko's 550whp on stock internals, just cause they did it with an SR. Can't have the SR showing up the KA now can we. Then I'll be going for really big numbers.

yeah, don't get me wrong, i think the sr is cool and all and it's a great engine, but is it just me or does every magazine or tuner hype this thing up way too much. that's all i hear down here in Tennessee, sr this and sr that, i wanted something different, that's why i went ka. guys thanks for all the info. if any has anything elese to add let me know, i would really appreciate it.
