You can get a 165* thermo from advance auto. ACTUALLY, I'm going to be pulling mine out shortly and going back up to a 195* thermo. I don't like the 165*. The ambient temps here are down to the mid 30's at night and I can't get the engine temps over 140* driving at night. They won't even break 150* during the day. If you're on the stock ECU, you had better stay away from it as it'll run rich and retard the timing.

Stock thermostats are 82C/180F and 88C/190F 'F/COLD', you just buy em for a 88 Pulsar 1.8.

There's some old nissan motor that has a thermostat listed that is physically compatible, that the description has listed as being for tropical weather. Don't remember from what engine it was, a Z24 or L24 or something, it was a 70-something Celsius thermostat.

Um, a KA or SR one will not work. WAY too big. I tried the Nismo one and had to send it back. I kept my 190* thermo to swap back in here in a few weeks, but for now, I am very happy with my 160*.

If you're dead set on a NISMO unit, I believe the RB thermos ARE interchangeable, but I could be wrong on that.

As long as you've got a big / working radiator, there's no need for a cooler thermostat, it'll just make warmups more of a ***** and cold weather suckier.

I'm running a new, stock radiator, with a 160-165* thermo. My car has NEVER been over 180 degrees since I rebuilt the motor. But anytime the ambient temps get below 60*, the car never breaks 150*. This is actually a bad thing because below that temp, the fuel doesn't atomize very well, hence the need to richen the mixture when it's cold. I'm now switching up to a hotter thermo, not just because it's winter, but because I didn't really see any improvement in the running of the motor with a colder thermo.

Nope, RB one is not the same. When you get a Nismo thermostat here in the US, it says RB/VG/SR on the box. It does not fit (I physically tried)

Well, last nite it was 40 outside, and my car drove like total a$$ on the way home. I could feel it pulling timing like a MoFo at WOT. Good thing I am going into my new job (at Advance Auto) today to fill out my W2 so I can pick up another stock thermo. Sigh. I love ECCS
