Okay,my friend calls me and says he wants me to figure out some stats on the KA in the '98 240. He says "apparently they're pretty powerful dude." i did research and see that it says the s13 and s14 are mechanically virtually the same. Told him that and he said he swears there has to be a difference...explain this a little bit.hah thanks.

97 & 98 are OBDII. I can't remember if 96 is too. That's pretty much it.

i had question about the motor from the 98 s14 i currently have a 91 240 hatch but my motor has majorly lost compression from frying the rings. my friend has a motor that came out of the 98 and is willing to sell to me cheap. since it being OBD2 i read some where that if i were to put that motor in my car i have to use both manifolds fuel rail and injectors and distributer from my 91 motor? anything else?

ugh noo. im pretty sure u leave all that. u can run ur obd1 ecu tho especially if u ever wanna go kat ur gonna want the obd1.honestly i woulnt get a 98 tho. i would go 97 if ur looking just for the newes thing. 98 has a single chain timing system and i heard that its a pita changing the cams and that you cant run any other ka cams in it. idk thats just wht i read on the car page for ka's. hopefully someone comes in and explains better. go looking for the cam sticky in ka forum

the thing is the motor doesnt have any manifolds, injectors, fuel rail, or distributer. so i could still take that stuff off the 91 motor and put it on the 98?

You don't have to swap the head. I have a 98 engine in my 91 and we used all the accessories from my 91 including the manifolds. I didn't change the head, what's the point in that?

And my car runs BTW.

If I am not mistaken 1995 to 1998 240's were OBDII. I think the cut off year for OBDI was 1996 and Nissan had already started making OBDII cars in 1995.

I heard some early model 95's were OBD1, but most 95's are OBD2 and from then on all were OBD2.

The early model 95's were OBD 1. Look at the inside of the door frame, S14's with a production date of Mar 94 to like Dec 94 (maybe a little later) were OBD 1, after that they are all OBD 2.
