ka24 stalls out out of gear

i have a 92 hatch and i drives fine at low speeds but when you get on it your just cruise on the highway ounce you take it out of gear the rpms just drop and it stalls out also on occasion youll be driving and the car will get slugish and then just kick back in i dont know if these two problems go hand in hand but any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
