I have a KA24E in my 89 240 right now with about 200k + miles on it, and i know the dude i bought it from ROMPED on it so hard, so it threw a rod and probably put a hole in the block, would i be best just to buy a whole new other SOHC, or should i just try to rebuild this engine to get it to run again?..

im on $400 budget

there any DIY's on rebuilding the SOHC?

if theres a hole in the block, theres no chance of rebuild.

if you have any mechanical experience or prowess, its not hard to rebuild yourself. i rebuilt my KADE without a write up, its quite a learning experience.

but with 400 bucks, im not sure youd be able to get all the stuff you need to get to rebuild it, unless you really do some searching and find good deals or skip some parts of the rebuild process.

you might just wanna try to pick up another motor. (dual cam!)

If there is a hole in the block, the motor is done.

Pull the motor, take the head off of it, and make a coffee table out of the old block because it is now useless otherwise.

I have a KA24E block in perfect condition for $20 if you're willing to drive up to the Seattle area.

Just like what everyones said. The block is done. But you can find new blocks online for that engine for pretty cheap. Less than 400 I imagine.
