KA24... or SR20....

i have been debating this issure for awhile, and i need some feedback.. my friend was telling me how a turbo on a KA is more efficiate then a turbo on an SR because of the displacement. the problem with putting a turbo on my KA is that my KA isnt in the greatest shape, and an SR swap is 4 times as much as i payed for my car and i was just reading on here how having a 300+hp KA couldnt be that reliable for long periods of time without some kind of major work. so is anybody really know what would be the best way to have the engine last a long time but have high hp? (over 300hp)

dude you are treading a mine field, especialy with your topic header, as there has beem countless debates over the issue. im basically trying to keep the flames out of your @$$. there are also more than a few people on the boards making power at those levels reliably and some also making mad power. you should check the topic at the top of the page list you power in the kat section, and also make friends with the glowing red button in the top right hand corner.

Well, your friend is wrong, it's not magically more efficient because it's on a higher displacement engine. X amount of Fuel + Y amount of air makes Z amount of power, regardless of your engine size (technically, smaller engines would make more in the end since they have lighter reciprocating parts, but that's a negligable difference).

The real reason to choose a KA over a SR is partially the displacement though. You can make the same power at lower RPMs with less boost. Also, it's cheaper and easier to turbo a KA than to swap in an SR. Oh, and the KA will spool the turbo slightly faster, due to the higher displacement.
