I am getting a new ka24DE engine, well with about 30k miles. I dont really have the money to save up in a reasonable amount of time to buy the sr20. I thought about just making the KA24DE as Bad AZZ as it can be. What do you guys/gals think.

if the Ka24de is all u can work with....might as well turbo it if you want it to be badd a$$......check out the Ka24det board & talk to some of those guys. Only drawback is that it'll prolly cost the same as if you had bought an SR:)

I know it will cost more eventually down the road, but It would take longer for me to save up for the sr20 and then put parts for the sr20 on that, then if I just go wiht the KA and slowly put parts on it. I need a swap now and since money is tight, goin with the ka24de.

I would prefer the KA over the SR for a number of reasons. Im all about pump gas and 250rwhp. Both can be attained with the KA without any serious modifications. If your looking for a 400rwhp novelty engine, the SR is one route.

In all honesty I wouldnt buy an SR even if I had the money. The KA is just too good to pass up. We are sitting on an AWESOME engine compared to so many other production engines, but few seem to realize this because of SR this and SR that.

Dont feel bad for getting a low milage KA!! =D

i think the ka used to be so underrated, but now it is starting to get the attention it deserves. there is nothing like a torquey engine, because whenever you pound the gas you get some response. with an sr you often find yourself searching for boost at low rpms, and it has no torque to compensate. i plan to go the ka turbo route, and i can also get 94 octane gas for $1.70. good luck

My main reasoning for stayin with a ka is one you not buyin an engine some japanese guy beat on an threw in the junkyard, an second if you blow up ur KA you can go to the local junkyard an pick up another there everywhere. What do you do when you blow your SR up???

Yeah I had the chance to buy an SR a while ago but I used the money to buy a Revhard manifold and a T3/T4 and some new seats(sparco, its a track car) Plus had money left over and my turbo kit is underway. Expecting 300+rwhp EASY and cheaper then an SR.

I dont have money to do it now, but Im just gonna save up until next winterthen Ill get a turbo setup exhuast and intake for now.

Im just REALLY worried about hte aftermarket support.

ignore that smiley im to lazy to edit.......i myself have ka in the car and one about to go to the machine shop....last time i checked it takes alot of horsepower to overcome a lack of torque...ie hondas with 094560197517509874598475 horsepower and 3 pounds of torque. i dont drive at redline all the time nor would i feel comfortabe doing so......ill take a nice chunk of usable torque at 3krpm thank you.

b cuz the aftermarket is slowly coming around you just have to look for stuff pretty hard sometimes.. http://www.ka24de.com http://www.jimwolftechnology.com already have alot of stuff for the ka24de. also phase2 has alot.
