I am working on installing a '98 240 SX engine in my '69 Datsun 2000. I bought the engine 6 years ago, and want to lift it from the cradle so I can mount it on the engine stand, but I am unsure what points are ok to lift from. There are no lift hooks.

I've used one of the exhaust manifold studs, and the Alternator bracket. But i dont know if the alt. bracket is such a good place, it bolts to the aluminum front cover so... Be careful by any means. If anyone else has a better idea i would like to hear it too.

I have used the intake and exhaust runners sucessfully several times. This also allows you to find a "balance point". For example, with the transmission mated to the engine, runners 2 and 3 wrapped together is almost perfectly level. I found this much easier than using one of those engine levelers.
