KA won't start

Ok I think my car is about to throw a rod like my last one and I don't know what to i pulled of the valve cover and my timing chain was loose so i fixed it i think and the car still won't start is a 96 by the way all it does is turn and turn like it wants to start but i don't know it died and lost all power when i got off the high way and it had to be towed home the oil light was flickering right before it went and it was making a horrible tapping noise and it wasn't the timing chain guides please help!!

if the timing chain got loose, chances are the timing is off

when you took a look at the timing chain were you able to check all the markings?

yeah the distributor actually jumped out of its mesh with the gear in the motor and it was seriously off but i don't know exactly how to set the timing do you know any good how to's?

But for this to work your cam and crankshaft have to be in the correct markings as well. Since you said the timing chain was loose, I wonder if it jumped a tooth on the sprocket (camshaft gear). If possible spend the extra time to confirm that they are correctly aligned and once that is confirmed do the distributor check with the article above.

thats the guide i used but i don't have silver markings i have yellow links i cant find any that are silver

if they they align with the marks on the crankshaft gear and the cam gear, then those are it. The purpose is to have the crankshaft and camshaft correctly synchronized..

I guess that the bad part is that it would entail opening the front of the engine to make sure the markings are correctly aligned...

wish i could help more man, but it seems you'll need to open the front of the engine again and do all the timing marks at once, including the distributor.
