So a buddy of mine just picked up a KA motor that has all the internals and block modified to run a Turbo. It has a compression ratio of 8:1. My friend wants to run it as a NA stock motor though. He's installing the stock ECU and everything, but leaving the internals how they are. Wont the car run bad because the car is suppose to run at about 9.5:1. He claims the car will make 200whp? Wondering what you guy think?

He's not going to make 200, no where near that no matter what he does. It's going to run like it has worn rings minus the smoking and oil wash. He should sell that block, and pick up a stock block.

Yes, it will have less power, but that's not a side effect of using the stock ecu. The ecu doesn't care what your compression ratio is, and I don't think there is such thing as a low compression tune. Tell him to boost it, or keep the block for when he wants to boost it.

+1, the car is gonna run like a dog. It sounds like he really doesnt know what he's talking about.

OP, do not post the same f@cking question in multiple forums just because you didn't get an answered in the first 20 minutes. zer...of-81

Learn how to use the f@cking search option at the top of the page. If you can't see it then you are not looking for the right red flashing word SEARCH!

OP: A flat 8:1? You do realize the average lawn mower engine runs about that, yeh? Honestly, 8:1 is low even for a boosted setup. It won't run badly, but it'll be a slug in terms of power output, and you might even have emissions issues.

spank044: Just say "screwing." Spelling it like you're inbred doesn't keep kids from asking their moms what "f@cking" means, and I suspect nobody here is guessing what it might actually mean, either. Use the right word, or better still find some descriptive adjectives to use instead of cursing. It's like you're afraid to actually put the proper word down, and/or are too dumb to think of a better way to speak.

Sadly, I find that statement to hold true with over half of the people I come into contact with. In every area. Enough to make me ask how some of these tards are still around. Like, I would expect them to gouge out eyes when eating, but they sure know what they're talking about. They'll even argue with you.

Yeah its funny when I talk to people about my t-type, they always say "yeah there twin turbo" then I say there single turbo, and then the argument insues afterward. Like trying to nail crap to the wall.

A bone stock KA with 9.5:1 compression makes 130whp.

Your friend's fully built 8:1 lower compression is going to make 200whp? Stock ecu and everything?

Is your friend just stupid or does he just talk out of his asss?

Why did you even post asking this question? Your couldn't figure it out for yourself?

My statement wasn't directed towards you, but your friend. Sorry for any confusion. By asking on here, you admit that you don't really know, but you do the right thing and look for answers. Don't ever be persuaded into not asking. The only stupid question is a toss up between "The one not asked", and "WaT mOt3r Is tEh BeTterz?"

Funny how you didn't know that lower compression makes you lose power, not gain.

An 8:1 block would be something you would go for if you were running HIGH boost, like in the 20's of psi, maybe 30's with race gas.
