I am trying to figure out what motor to stick with. a KA24de turbo or a sr swap. this car will be used for drifting and i have heard that although the SR is a fantastic motor the KA has a more usable powerband. I would really like to hear personal expericances with both motors and see which is the more reliable, usable and mod friendly in the long run. thanks for your time

Edited for politeness to the FNG: No one can answer this question for you. You have to research to find which you'd rather live with. Both powerplants are solid and have dynamic potential.

well gee . for some reason i thought that just saying search i little harder dude would have worked. I thought there might have been a for sure answer like SR's are cool but unreliable or something, i asked you opinions and experiance, but if you want to be d**ks about it (besides simmode1 ) then i guess thanks anyway. im sorry that i don't much about 240's yet or even how to search forums well but i guess you guys all just knew everything from the beginning. ill go seach more! maybe instead of making fun of me you could have posted links to other posts that could have helped!

Here's what you do. Go read the stickies at the top of the forum first for general 240sx info. Then go to the SR specific forum and KA-T specific forum for the pro's and con's of those engines in particular. Don't mind all the IBTL stuff. We get a little excited when we see fresh meat and some guys are quick to pounce. GL and welcome to NICO!

It's like comparing apples and oranges.Yeah they're both fruit.Yeah they both taste good. But some will favor oranges.Others will favor apples.

think about it like this. if you want an engin e you can just drop in, go sr.If you want to build and fine tune something, go ka. if you want torque, go ka.if you want high rpms, go sr.keep in mind you already have a bigger engine in your car right now. My ka24e-t is only pushing 8psi and is hitting 225hp and 232tq. only for break in. search for true pig build and there you will find my build and possibly learn from mine.

If you want the cheapest route, go KA-T.

If you have money to burn and want over 275HP, the choice is yours.

If you want an easy 200-250HP with no mods go SR.

If you don't want an engine swap, go KA-T.

If you want better mpgs, go SR.

If you want more torque, go KA-T.

If you like reving to 8K like a Honda, go SR.

There are many other situations/variables/whatever that I could list but I'm lazy and you can do it yourself.

There's a good chance you're going to have to rebuild either of the engines. The whole 40K is BS on SR's unless you've seen the car the engine was being pulled from. I have an SR myself.

Plan to spend a good deal of money on whatever you're going to go with.

Search doesnst accuratly answer his question in the sr vs ka delema that everyone is curious about. I think there should be a competitation between these two motors to prove what is better in different situations. Thats just me. HAHA!! what did I just type?

Possibly... I had a good number of people call me for it.

Sold it to a guy in CT. Had perfect compression and ran like a top.
