I just got my first car and im not gonna lie, I dont know much. But my brother had a 240 years ago, and ever since then I love them.

Anyways i saved up and finally i bought a stock 98.

It has a Sh***ad of miles (260k)

so the engine and transmission are finally going,

I was lookin to swap me a new engine and transmission

but i dont know whats good.

I saw some on ebay but i dont know what the results of that are.

RB25DET

Complete Head & Block5 Speed RWD TransmissionIntake ManifoldTurboWiringECUAlternatorStarterPower Steering PumpA/C Compressor…ETC

$2000

SR20DET

Complete EngineComplete transmission(Doesnt give a detailed description)

$2600

or i can work on my stock KA

I still have to swap the 5 Speed transmission since the car is auto

I really dont care about drifting

I just want a fast car thats not a Fkng American Car

its your car you do what YOU want to do with it. Honestly if you are on a budget go ka.. parts are everywhere unlike the rb or sr. you can get away with the sr but its going to pile up and you cant just go to local auto store and buy sr parts.

thanks dude.

I kinda expected flamming when I posted this

but how big of power difference is the SR to KA to RB

i mean my KA is giving me problems already, its loosing compression and stuff, and its got little knicks and knacks. but i can always get a decent one in decent shape for a pretty decent price or just get it rebuilt

im just looking for suggestions

PS I dont wanna become a RICER

If you have the money, I say get the RB. And remember, you can't just swap in an engine that's almost if not more than 2x the power and not upgrade the suspension, brakes, etc...

But there's no way in hell you're gonna be able to swap an rb25 for under 4-5K without some major hookups if you want to do it right. You need to factor in the cost of wiring, a new driveshaft, crossmember, etc...

An SR will probably be a grand less. Also need to factor in wiring.

If you keep the KA, you're gonna have to turbo it to get any decent numbers. It will be the cheapest if you spend your money wisely and don't make expensive mistakes.

Read up. As I said, there's tons of info on NICO. Here's just a few things to start with.

What is needed to swap an RB into a 240sx

RB FORUM <--- Read the stickies at the top.

SR FORUM <--- Also read stickies up top

KA24 Turbo FORUM <--- Read stickies!!!

Hopefully that'll tide you over for a bit. After you've read up on all that, and browsed through a few pages of those forums, SEARCH. There's way more info on top of that. Good luck with your project.

No matter how many times I see these threads. I can't help but click on them.

If the point hasn't been made yet. Search and you'll find lots of info on your topic.

Im pretty sure the reason most people click them is in hopes that they might be something that a simple search would not answer.

Like KA v RB v SRKelly Allen vs Renee Balanoff vs Sarah Radway

But me, i click them just to show off all the IBTL pics ive found.

Join the crowd. Let this be known that from now on, I will be locking down more of these styles of threads. I let a few slide because they were simple, honest threads asking for advice. Now they're just annoying.
