OK, so I pulled off my timing chain cover to swap the head. I was having a hard time removing the distributor from the upper cover, so I left it on. Now I can fit the upper cover with the distributor on, and the distributor won't come off for anything. Is the distributor supposed to be off the upper timing chain cover/ If so is it supposed to be easy to take off? Can it be that they got microwelded? If so, what do I do? Please help me asap, as after a month, this is the only issue I have right now to make my car run.

You need to pull the distributor out. After you remove the 2 10mm bolts holding it to the cover you have to rotate it back and forth while pulling on it to work the rubber oring free from the cover.

yea, I removed mine a couple weeks ago when I pulled my head , had to use a long screw driver to give it steady out ward force while i rotated it back and forth working it out of the cover. Of course the cover was still bolted to the engine.

I still can't get the distributor out of the top timing cover. Is it possibly f#$%^d up? Do I need to get a new timing cover and distributor.

ks NISTECH. You are being very helpful. 2 more quick questions: First, what is the right way for the distributor to go in without messing up the block and camshaft timing? Second, I think I'm gonna need a new timing cover and distributor. How many years back can I go and still be compatible with my engine? I have an 95 s14 240 with dohc. (Then its off to the junkyard)
