Anyone know if the CA and KA lines can be unscrewed (in either spot where my red arrows are pointing) and simply screwed together? (CA to KA) Has anyone tried it yet? I know everyone says you need to have the lines braized together or whatever....but.....I'd be willing to bet they either would screw together or you could buy a threaded conversion peice from an A/C or hydraulic shop.

Any ideas?

*bump* Come on guys...this could maybe work!! Anyone have intact stock CA AC lines that come off the firewall they'd be willing to part with so we can get this figured out?

thanks,

I've done every other PITA conversion with the car so far (manual seatbelts w/customized panels, S14 front and rear seats, brown to black interior & carpet swap, 5 lug zbrake swap etc.)... I'm not half assing it on the A/C. I even plan on doing the digital AC swap if I can ever get all the parts collected.

Anyhow...thanks for the bump.

i dont think anyone has tried it. most just ditch a/c.

be a pioneer and try it. document it with pics if it works, and you will go down in ca history.

if not, you can get the ca compressor flanges tig welded on to the ka lines at a welding shop.

My friend and I were talking about this Saturday.

The closest you will get is from using the SOHC AC lines. Now technically there was a time that the DOHC A/C lines were the same as the SOHC lines. It was only a couple of production months in 91. They then revised their A/C lines enlarging them so they will not match up with the SOHC lines. You have to basically use DOHC or SOHC A/C lines.

I know I am not makeing much sense with that paragraph.

Whenever I get my CA swapped, I have a sohc car with the lines still in it, and I also have a CA compressor and the ends of the lines, so however it has to be done, I am going to figure it out.

I want a/c on my daily, lol, humidity sucks balls.

Try living in FL with no A/C...

I am in the process of finding a nice daily driver right now.

Does anyone have a hookup at an importer shop that imports clips that could source one of these for me? I'd be looking to have an intact line, unscrewed from the firewall and perfect all the way up to the compressor housing. I emailed a place but it seems their clips dont come with the AC hooked up so Im not sure if that has to do with the DOT/EPA/Customs requiring all lines be depressurized and emptied before entry. I'm hoping maybe a board member here in Canada has access to something like this since there are some CA's running around that were directly imported and street driven from Japan.....maybe one ended up in the junkyard and the line is there.

If anyone has a hookup please let me know.

thanks,

-Matt
