OK, so I pulled off my timing chain cover to swap the head. I was having a hard time removing the distributor from the upper cover, so I left it on. Now I can fit the upper cover with the distributor on, and the distributor won't come off for anything. Is the distributor supposed to be off the upper timing chain cover/ If so is it supposed to be easy to take off? Can it be that they got microwelded? If so, what do I do? Please help me asap, as after a month, this is the only issue I have right now to make my car run.

You probably aready rotated the distributor gear taking it off and your gonna rotate it some more when you put it back on. Your probably also going to have to rotate the crank to line up with the cams off the other head. How the frell are you gonna know where your timing is set? The distributor on my '97 ka was kinda tight as well, just rotate it back and forth till you get a gap between the distributor and the upper cover. Try some penetrating oil and let it sit a while. If that don't work, get a pry bar or screw driver in there and carefully pry the distributor out.

My block was set at TDC before I put the head on. I set the cams at TDC by lining them up at 10 and 2 with the first lobes. So I know that the block and cams are at TDC.

That still does not change the fact that you rotated the distributor taking the upper cover off. I highly doubt that it the distributor will be rotated the exact same amount when you put it back on. Did you manage to get the distributor out of the upper cover?

No, it had gotten microwelded. I bought a new upper timing cover and put that in. Now I'm just waiting to get the distributor in. Once I get that in, it should only go in 1 way, and I'll have the valve cover off to make sure the cams don't rotate.
