I bought a 240 to run the KA into the ground while saving up for new parts for a rebuild. So I installed the turbo and had a mechanic do a clutch replacement for me since I ran out of time. Before I could drive it I was deployed- once I got back I drove the car about a thousand miles before I bought the new internals...but about the same time I bought the internals, my transmission started acting funny.
I was at the grocery store about a month ago and when I came out, I started my car but I couldn't shift it into reverse. The clutch felt normal-not all mushy like I have read on other threads- and if I pushed hard enough into reverse the car moved slightly but would not go into gear. I became pretty pissed off after turning the car off and on- then just slammed it into reverse. It grinded and jolted into reverse and from there it drove fine all the way home.
About a week after that I was at work and the same thing happened at the end of the day. So sure enough I did the same thing by slamming it into reverse-swearing this was the last time it would happen, and that I would replace every component I could that week. Once I was out of the parking spot, it wouldn't go into first...or any other gear for that matter.
So I shut my car off, shifted through all the gears with ease with the car off, tried putting the car into gear and tried starting the car then. No joy. The car jolted and stopped trying. So I started in neutral, got out and pushed the car to a slow roll, jumped in and caught first (still with a little bit of grinding)...and grinded the gears all the way home. My car hasn't moved since. I did the rebuild in my driveway-replaced all the pistons and rods and did my own head job. I started the car up after the build (praying the transmission problem went away on its own mysteriously). Sure enough it didn't.
So here I sit with a fresh rebuilt motor and nothing to shift into. I just had my clutch replaced less than 1200 miles ago, with the proper break in period and haven't burnt it up.
Could it be the mechanic ****ed it up? Could it be something else. I need help!
Sorry for the entire story, thought i'd be as thorough as possible. Thanks!
